About Lost Coin
Our mission is to share the true good news of Christ’s victory over sin and death: Jesus actually wins. His work—not ours—ensures that every person that has ever existed will one day live together in peace with our Creator.
Problems with modern teachings
Many religions teach that some portion of humanity will be endlessly tormented in a place called “hell.” This presents a number of issues. Christians, for example, typically defend this horrific outcome with one of these explanations:
- Jesus only came to save a certain group of people
- Man’s rebellious nature prevents him from accepting God’s love
- The adversary, Satan, prevents men from embracing Jesus
Each is flawed: The first explanation is incompatible with a God of love and justice. The second either elevates man above God, making him able to thwart the will of God, or it makes God unwilling to help fix the broken man. The third makes Satan—a creation of God—more powerful than Himself.
We reject the notion of endless torment. God is love (1 John 4). Jesus is promised to destroy every rule and every authority and power (1 Corinthians 15:24). No one can frustrate or prevent God’s will (Job 42:2), and He assures us that His will is for all people to be saved (1 Timothy 2:1–4).
Nothing new here
Our belief that Jesus is truly victorious may sound new or different, but it is not. It has remained in plain sight throughout centuries of darkness, waiting to be rediscovered. In fact, many of the works that address this topic in our collection of resources were published over a century ago, and the majority of early church leaders taught the final reconciliation of all creatures to God.
If you’re new to this idea or skeptical of religion in general, we completely understand. We’ve prepared a brief introduction just for you that covers the basics behind these conclusions. It’s written for everyone—no prior knowledge is needed.
Behind the name
The name Lost Coin is derived from the second in a series of redemption parables told by Jesus:
“Or what woman, having ten silver coins, if she loses one coin, does not light a lamp and sweep the house and seek diligently until she finds it? And when she has found it, she calls together her friends and neighbors, saying, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found the coin that I had lost.’ Just so, I tell you, there is joy before the angels of God over one sinner who repents.” Luke 15:8–10

Strikingly, Jesus chose inanimate objects for this illustration. A coin can’t run away from its owner. It also can’t run to her. Coins don’t get lost on their own. So Jesus’ story focuses entirely on the actions of the loving owner, relentlessly searching for that which is lost—and rejoicing once it is found.
Like the lost coin, we contribute nothing to the work of Christ. We are simply thankful to belong to the One who never gives up pursuing every last person. He alone is the reason we can recognize this truth.
A message from the founder
We hope you find what you’re looking for. Maybe it’s something you lost… or something you didn’t even realize was missing. No matter where you are in your faith, we’d like to help you explore ideas and possibilities you may not have considered yet.
Above all, our prayer is that you discover one simple truth: God loves you, and He will never rest until your heart belongs to Him. This is the true Good News.
Until we meet! — J.D. Atkinson
