The Unselfishness of God

Hannah Whitall Smith

And with this a veil seemed to be withdrawn from before the plans of the universe, and I saw that it was true, as the Bible says, that “as in Adam all die—even so in Christ should all be made alive.” … I saw therefore that the remedy must necessarily be equal to the disease, the salvation must be as universal as the fall.

Hannah Whitall Smith, a popular evangelist and author, penned this spiritual autobiography near the turn of the century. Her writings, such as The Christian’s Secret of a Happy Life, remain popular to this day.

Many modern Christian publishers elected to omit three key chapters in her autobiography that explain Mrs. Smith’s firm belief in the Restitution of all people: a central component of the message she intended to leave behind.

The censored chapters, numbered 21–23, appear in this original version at page 195 (or 199 per the digital document).
